Certificate in English Language Course

 

Objectives

The aim of this course is to improve students’ English conversational ability within a short period of time so that they can adapt to the English-speaking environment as soon as possible. This course aims to improve students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, so that they will be able to meet the language requirement to further their studies in various professional certification courses in future. This course is also extremely useful to students who wish to take the International English Language proficiency examination.

Term

The course duration is 12 months. The English Language course consists of 7 levels:

  • Beginner
  • Elementary I
  • Elementary II
  • Intermediate I
  • Intermediate II
  • Advanced I
  • Advanced II

There are four Modules per year:

Module 1: November to December

Module 2: January to March

Module 3: March to June

Module 4: June to October

Students can choose to enroll in the whole course from Module 1 to Module 4. At the end of each module, students must take the module examination and the college will issue the module examination results to the students. 

 

 

Lesson Time

Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., full-time course.


Course Certification

Certificate will be awarded upon passing the examination.

Course Synopses

At the end of this course the students should have acquired a clear, natural pronunciation and intonation. The students should be able to understand the information content of the majority of recorded or broadcast audio material on topics of personal interest delivered in clear standard speech. The students should be able to write smoothly and detailed taking information from a variety of different sources in English.


Course Outline

We balance curriculum including listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. Also, we focus on speech recognition and phonetical sounds for accent perfection. The systematic structure teaches vocabulary and grammar naturally, without lists and drills. Previews, exercises, and tests will be conducted for every lesson. Topics include:

  • People and talking
  • Directions: “How do I get to …”
  • Affirmative and negative verb forms
  • Food, eating, and drinking
  • Family relationships
  • Direct objects
  • Telling time
  • Numbers to 100
  • Objects of prepositions
  • Clothing and dress
  • Vehicles, furniture, clothing, and instruments
  • Shapes, colors, and locations


Course Material

Course Materials and Textbooks are compulsory and at a minimal fee. Material fees are subjected to change depending on the level.

Students must be above 6 to sign up for the course.

POINTS TO NOTE

Students will sit for our placement test before their first lesson to access their English standard, so as to assign the students to a class of a suitable course level for them to start with.
