Application Procedures for Foreign Students

 

1. The student has to submit the completed application form and application documents to SCI.

2. If the student meets SCI’s entry requirement, SCI will issue the student an offer letter.

3. The student will pay the Student Pass handling fee and Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) administrative fee upon signing the standard PEI-Student Contract. SCI will apply the Student’s Pass online. This application procedure will take about 4 weeks.

4. After the Student Pass is approved by the ICA, the student shall make full payment of the fees (registration fee, course fee, material fee, exam fee, certificate-making fee, science practical fee, Fee Protection Scheme Insurance fee and medical insurance fee where applicable).

5. Then, the student shall receive the ICA Letter of Notification of Approval of Student’s Pass from SCI.

6. Thereafter, the student shall proceed to the ICA with the letter to obtain his/her Student’s Pass.

If the student is not in Singapore and requires SCI to apply his/her Entry Visa, he/she shall make payment of the fees due. SCI will mail the Entry Visa to the student after it is approved.
If the student requires additional services such as accommodation & airport reception, an advance notice of 2 weeks must be given and the payment of relevant fees due shall be made beforehand.

In the event when the Student’ Pass application is rejected by ICA or when the student decides to withdraw halfway, the Student Pass handling fee& ICA administrative fee will not be refunded. All refund requests for fees paid other than the Student Pass handling fee & ICA administrative fee will be handled according to SCIs’ refund policy.


Documents to be provided by students from China

1. The 4 notarized documents with English translation as follows:

  • Notarized copy of student’s Birth Certificate
     
  • Notarized copy of student’s highest education certificates (current students can request for a verification letter (to be notarized) from their school .)
     
  • Notarized copy of student’s academic transcripts
     
  • Notarized copy of student’s or his/her parents’ bank account statement. (saving period must be above 3 months & has more than RMB$150, 000)


2. A copy of the completed application form

3. 2 passport-sized photos of student

4. A photocopy of the student’s passport

*If the student is above 19 years old, the abovementioned 4 notarized documents must be authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in China or authorized bureaus of Foreign Affairs in the various provinces. (If the student requires SCI to assist on his/her behalf in the authentication procedures, a service charge of S$500 will be due.)

 

 

The following documents must be provided:

  • Verification of the student’s parents’ annual income in English (includes job position, job nature, annual income, and stamp of the company division. If parents are self-employed, please provide the relevant business license)
  • Study Plan of Student; stating the intention of overseas studies in both English and Chinese (i.e. Why do you wish to study abroad, reasons for coming to Singapore to study, your understanding of SCI , your family’s financial abilities, abidance by the Singapore law, reasons for returning to your native country after completion of studies etc)
  • Photocopy of the student’s and his/her parents’ proof of identification and bank account book


Documents to be provided by students from other countries

1. The 3 notarized documents with English translation as follows:

  • Copy of student’s Birth Certificate
  • Copy of student’s highest education certificates (current students can request for a verification letter from their school.)
  • Copy of student’s academic transcripts

2. A copy of the completed application form

3. 2 passport-sized photos of student

4. A photocopy of the student’s passport

If the student opts for the FPS Escrow Scheme, he/she can transfer fund from his/her local bank to SCI’s DBS Escrow account. The details of the account are as follows:
