Conversational Shanghainese Course

 

Objectives 

Shanghai is a major and thriving business center, as well as a popular tourist destination, and is now attracting world audiences with every move it makes. This one-to-one course equips you with the necessary language skills. The lingua franca of this modern metropolis of 15 million is Shanghainese. The ability to speak the native language gives both visitors and business people alike the advantage of enhanced communication and expediency in their interactions and dealings with the people from this vibrant city. At the end of the course, you will learn how to communicate in Shanghainese and by proceeding from level 1 up to level 6, improve your reading and conversational ability. After which, students will be expected to be able to listen and communicate fluently in Shanghainese of relatively long length.


Course Outline 

  • Shanghainese customs and culture
  • Shanghainese dialect tones and pitch accent
  • Consonants and vowels
  • Pronouns
  • Numbers, Directions, Seasons, Weather, Time, Colors etc in Shanghainese Language


Lesson Time 

10 lessons x 2 hours per lesson [based on preferred schedule]
(2 months duration)


Course Certification 

Students can receive a certificate by SCI upon completion of the course. Whether or not to take an examination at the end of the course is optional.

Course Materials 

Course Materials and Textbooks are compulsory and at a minimal fee. Material fees are subjected to change depending on the level.

We have highly qualified teachers who are dedicated and responsible. Our teachers who are experienced in their teaching subject are also very amicable and caring. The teachers are able to converse in both English/Mandarin as well to facilitate explanation.
