Preparatory Course for TOEFL Examination

General Information

TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. The purpose of the TOEFL is to measure the English proficiency of non-native speakers of the language. TOEFL is an Internet-based test which tests all four language skills that are important for effective communication: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. The test allows students to demonstrate that they have the English skills needed for success. It also emphasizes integrated skills and provides better information to institutions about students' ability to communicate in an academic setting and their readiness for academic coursework. TOEFL scores are used mostly by universities and schools in America as part of their admission criteria. The TOEFL is written and administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS). In Singapore, students take the TOEFL test on a computer at the official testing center designated by the ETS. You should take the TOEFL test if you want to apply to universities that require it as an admission criterion. TOEFL is mainly the recognized English proficiency measure in the United States and Canada.
