Preparatory Course for Singapore SEC (GCE O-Level) Examination 2027/2028

The Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O-Level) examination is an annual national examination taken by school and private candidates in Singapore. The Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB), Ministry of Education (MOE) and Cambridge Assessment International Education are the joint examining authorities for the GCE O-Level examination. The SEC (Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate) is the new unified national examination that replaces the O-Level and N-Level exams starting in 2027. This change is part of Singapore’s shift to Full Subject-Based Banding (Full SBB), which removes rigid academic streams (Express, Normal Academic, and Normal Technical). Under the SEC examination, students will sit the subjects at the respective subject level (i.e. G1, G2, G3). There is no change in the overall standards of examinations under the SEC, and the qualification continues to be recognised locally and internationally.

 

The GCE O-Level exam is equivalent to the Cambridge IGCSE exam and junior high/middle school completion in many countries. Upon completion of the GCE O-level exam, students can apply to local Junior Colleges or Polytechnics in Singapore, or pursue further education overseas in countries like the UK and Australia.
