Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management

Objectives

This course aims to provide students with a managerial orientation towards tourism and hospitality management and appreciation of the mechanism of hospitality and tourism industry, understanding of the management and organization involved in provision and consumption of the hospitality and tourism products and services. It is designed to prepare students for supervisory and management level responsibilities in the Hospitality and Tourism sector and equip with an integrated knowledge of management principles and the operations of the Tourism and Hospitality industry. Graduates of Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management Course can proceed to the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management course.

 

Course outline

There are 8 modules. The modules are:

  1. Organizational Behaviour & Culture
  2. Principles of Accounting
  3. Principles of Management
  4. Principles of Marketing
  5. Food and Beverage Service Operation
  6. Front Office Operations Management
  7. Tourism Systems and the Environments
  8. Hotel Convention Sales and Services

Optional

  1. DIBM 101 Business Law & Ethics
  2. DIBM 108 Principal of Marketing

 

Pre-requisites

Applicants must be at least 16 years or above AND fulfil the following requirements

Academic Level: At least 10 years of formal education or equivalent or pass the placement test of SCI or One year and above relevant working experience

Language Proficiency: English Language with IELTS 5.5 & above or GCE ‘O’ level grade C6 and above or pass SCI language proficiency test or equivalent.

 

Course Duration

Course will be completed in 9 months. There will be 6 hours of lesson time each week. Schedule of the classes will be planned to suit the course’s needs.

 

Course Certification

Upon completion of the 9 modules, those who fulfill the required attendance and pass all the assessments will be awarded a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management by SCI.

Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management course

 

Objectives 

This course aims to provide students with an advanced managerial orientation towards tourism and hospitality management, understanding of the advanced management and organization involved in the provision and consumption of the hospitality and tourism products and services. It also helps the students to identify and understand the techniques and theory implied in the hospitality and tourism environment. Students are given emphasis on developing professional hotel competencies such as effective communication skills, good customer service skills, leadership, team work and other relevant professionalism topics related to the industry. Students will be equipped with an integrated knowledge of management principles and the operations of the Tourism and Hospitality industry.
