This course aims to provide students with a managerial orientation towards tourism and hospitality management and appreciation of the mechanism of hospitality and tourism industry, understanding of the management and organization involved in provision and consumption of the hospitality and tourism products and services. It is designed to prepare students for supervisory and management level responsibilities in the Hospitality and Tourism sector and equip with an integrated knowledge of management principles and the operations of the Tourism and Hospitality industry. Graduates of Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management Course can proceed to the Advanced Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management course.

Untapped Career Growth Opportunities for PMETs in Singapore’s Hotel Industry
The government estimates that about 200 jobs will be created in the sector every year until 2020 for professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMETs). Currently, more than 2,000 job openings are available in the hotel and accommodation-services sector, with four in 10 for PMETs.
Strategic planning and corporate development director, Dawn Teo of Amara Holdings said, the company is looking at hiring people with high potential for multitasking to take on management positions in the region. With new hotels opening in Singapore, the number of roles that incorporate emerging skills such as revenue management would only increase, Workforce Singapore (WSG) said.

New Initiatives to Advance Transformation across Hotel Industry
To tackle the industry’s manpower challenge, STB also rolled out a 3-year Hotel Careers Campaign in July this year to drive awareness of the range of jobs and careers progression opportunities in the hotel industry. The campaign, themed “The Business of Happiness”, was executed in partnership with SHA and the Food Drinks & Allied Workers Union. One key highlight, the inaugural Open Hotel Weekends, an open house event held across 22 hotels over two weekends in October, pulled in more than 850 participants.
