About the Certificate in English Course

Why an English Course?

English is the working language of Singapore and one of the most useful skills for academic study, career growth, and daily life — but for students who don’t need a specific exam outcome like IELTS. Our Certificate in English Course is designed for learners who want practical English skills for everyday life, the workplace, and future academic study — without the pressure of exam preparation. It’s also a strong starting point for students who later plan to move on to IELTS once their English foundations are stronger.

If your goal is a specific IELTS band score for university or migration, our IELTS Preparation Course is the more direct route. Many students take Certificate in English first to build foundations, then progress to IELTS preparation.

Our Three Duration Options

Our Certificate in English Course is available in three durations. The right one depends on your starting English level and how much time you want to invest in building your skills:

3-Month

For students with some English foundation (CEFR A2 or higher) who want a focused boost to confidence and fluency for daily life or work.

6-Month

For beginners and lower-intermediate learners who want balanced, steady progress across all four skills. Balanced pace with time to build foundations alongside practical practice.

12-Month

For absolute beginners or students whose English needs substantial building from the ground up. Gradual pace with strong grammar foundation, vocabulary building, and progressive skill development across all four areas.

What Makes Our Programme Different

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Certificate in English and the IELTS Preparation Course?

Certificate in English is a foundational course focused on practical, everyday English — for daily life, work, and general communication. There’s no external exam at the end. IELTS Preparation Course is an exam-focused course preparing you for a specific test score for university, work, or migration. If your goal is a specific IELTS band score, take the IELTS course. If you want to build general English skills (or build foundations before tackling IELTS), Certificate in English is the right choice.

It depends on your starting level and how much you practise outside class. Most students notice noticeable improvement within 3 months of consistent study. Significant fluency improvement typically requires 6 months or more. For absolute beginners aiming for confident intermediate English, plan for 12 months.
