Admission to Government School (AEIS)

Course Information
The Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS) is an entrance examination administered by the Ministry of Education (MOE), typically held twice a year in September and February. It serves as the gateway for international students aspiring to join government primary and secondary schools in Singapore.
AEIS assess international students through a centralised examination in English and Mathematics, gauging their proficiency in language, numeracy, and logical reasoning. Admission to government schools depends on the student’s performance in the AEIS exam. Successful placement is subject to available school vacancies and the student’s declared residential area in Singapore.
International students seeking admission to Singapore’s government schools must be prepared for English as the primary language of instruction. It is strongly recommended that students undergo proper preparation before taking the AEIS exam. Familiarity with Singapore’s English and Mathematics syllabuses—particularly at the level just below the intended grade—is essential for a confident and well-informed attempt.
